The weekend of November 10-12, 2016 was a great weekend to be in the woods. The temperature during the day rose into the 60’s, while nighttime saw temperatures dip into the low 30’s. On this weekend, we said goodbye to our quadcopter (fly away) and hello to the first deer of the season. We saw lots of female deer during these few days (only one male) and were able to get one Friday around 4:45 p.m., just minutes before sundown. The shot was taken at about 25 yards. The arrow pieced the lungs and came out the other side. The deer ran and fell about 40 yards away.
